SUCCESS STORY: SWEDISH HOSPITAL LEGIONELLA CONTROL
PROJECT BACKGROUND
Uppsala Univeristy Hospital, Sweden
-
Pilot project commissioned by Uppsala Property Operations
-
Purpose was to review performance of Flow-Tech's ability to reduce biofilm and thereby reduce the risk of legionella in hot water lines
-
A secondary purpose was to see if the technology could reduce the need for hot water system flushing
RESULTS
Non-detect achieved. Legionella controlled.
-
Existing biofilm removed and future growth prevented
-
Flow-Tech successfully reduced legionella counts across all 17 test sites throughout hospital
-
Some test sites were as far as 350' away from installation
-
-
Fan Room C2 experienced a reduction in legionella counts from nearly 6,000 CFU/L to less than 1000 CFU/L (non-detect)
"This pilot project is very valuable. Use of the tested technique appears to be a reasonable addition/alternative to treating water for a general purpose to keep bacterial levels down."
Jonas Långmark, PhD Microbiologist Malungsfors
